We had ARK Support Fair at FIELD NOTE in Nara-shi on 30th Oct (Sun). It’s held twice a year, in spring and fall.
Unfortunately it was raining that day. But so many people visited and it was already full around 11:30 at the starting time.

We had a panel exhibit “ARK Tails” and also showed a movie trailer of independent distribution “犬と猫と人間と(Dogs, cats and humans)” directed by Motoharu Iida.

7 unique and attractive ARK dogs joined the event. But eventually, no one found new family.

Excuse me for showing it all all. I’m Komakichi.
You look like a father lounging around on weekend!
Komakichi is bright and healing-type despite his Japanese breed.
Don’t you think you are too relaxed? Do you know some get so nervous because of being surrounded by strangers at a new place?

Let me show your wow face too, he-he!
No, he was not upset.
He was in a so good mood and twisting his body♡

This is Komakichi’s room mate, Dorrit.
He was wearing a manner-belt (just wrapping a pet sheet around his waist) just in case. But he had been sitting the whole event and didn’t need it.
We were impressed that he accepts any kinds of people calmly, keeps a proper distance from other dogs and never puts any pressure on others. He is always well behaved in spite of his mysterious odd-eye.
He is a large dog, but never pulls a leash and is easy to walk. If you choose him, I am sure your family members will come back home as early as possible to spend time with him!

Candy is 9 years old, but her spirit is still a little girl. She got so excited with toys and was spoiled by many people.
She was disliked by Zabagriorni for some reasons. Zabagriorni barked many times at Candy but she did not care it at all. But she did not like Rinta much and seemed annoyed.
Dogs-Relationship is interesting, complicated just like human relations.

As she loves toys, she concentrated on breaking them. Look at her cute paws♡

Zabagriorni had been in a good mood.
He did not make any trouble and because he is tiny, he did not get that much attention…
He is unique and has his own way not like other dogs. It is a bit sad that people lost their interest when they know his age, 8 years old.

It is easy to find that Rinta is spoiled and relies on people if you hold him. He would grasps your arm and hold tightly.
In ARK, he tends to bark at the dogs passing in front of his kennel. But he did not bark during the event and he was a good boy. He showed his good mood by mingling on a blanket and showing his belly.
He has a cute face and gorgeous custard cream color fur. He is such a good looking boy, but did not get the offer yet.

Risotto (JP only) had a little girl who fell in love with her. The girl had been stroking Risotto a long time, but she did not hate it and still relaxed in a center of a lot of people.
We now can recommend her to the family with children.

The most popular dog was the 3 month old Vodka (JP only),
a Siberian husky puppy that is full of energy. But he was too popular that day and got tired in the middle of the event.

But, a little nap made him fully charged! It was confirmed that he needs the family who can have enough time for his daily exercise and training.
On the way to the event, it was such a mess. He did pooh, stepped on it and barked loudly (sounds like, he kept complaining). But after the event he completely slept in the car.

This is Ray.

He is friendly and lovely. But one little problem is that he shows his aggressiveness to other dogs wand wants people all to himself.

We are sure he will be a great family member if you can give your love only to him.

9 years old Candy patiently wrestled with 3 month old Vodka.
Vodka used foul play and face biting, but Labradors are not sensitive to pain. Candy’s cheek skin was just extended.
Candy also did some training to Vodka.

Craft artists and bakeries at the event kindly made donations to us.
Thank you for your work on a rainy day.
Also, thank you all for visiting us on this rainy day. We really appreciated it all!

We truly appreciate all the people who brought us relief supplies, made donations, bought ARK goods and visited us in the rain.

We had several future adopters who promised us to bring necessary documents later to ARK for interviews. We hope we will have great relationship with them in the future.

Unfortunately, today’s 7 dogs could not find their new families despite their great characters.
But we will again try to keep recommending our great animals to future adopters!

Penne and Gnnochi

Penne and Gnnochi are living with a foster family as ARK is always full.
Once they were about to be adopted, but now waiting from the start again.

The same foster family is taking care of a 1 month old kitten. Penne and Gnnochi are boys but are so good at taking care of the kitten. The foster family loves to see them doing it and is proud of them.

They can let the kitten eat first and play with him so well. If he meows out loud, they will soon come to him.

Gnnochi is a joker, chicken and a spoiled boy.
His favorite thing is climbing up to high places.
He can finally get down by himself now that he is bigger.
Praise me!

Penne is thoughtful, careful and has good reflexes. If he were a human, he would be good at both studies and sports, like an A-student?
He is easy going and friendly. He would have many friends if he were a human.
He loves to play with toys.

IMG_8075_1.jpg IMG_8077_1.jpg
They were abandoned in a cardboard box in a park in February.

You see the box filled with torn newspapers? That’s the box they were in.
The three tiny kittens were cold and didn’t move. A foster family took them in to keep them warm. They were obviously just born. They still had umbilical cords and their eyes were closed.
They mewed loudly and started drinking milk at a furious pace.
Unfortunately, Farfalle has passed away the next day.
The lower right picture is Farfalle.

Penne and Gnnochi have been getting along so well and are good pals. We are hoping that their new family would adopt them together.
You two have to have happiness also for Falfalle.

Penne and Gnnochi are staying at the foster family’s home and not in ARK.
Please let us know in advance if you would like to see them for future adoption.

Also, there are a lot of cats are waiting to be adopted at ARK.
They all are unique and attractive.
Please come visit them!!

Dachshund is Dachshund, but Dachshund

ARK has been having calls from the people who cannot keep their pets anymore due to divorce, moving, fired, disease, abandoned, etc…
(Of course, we want to believe that all of them were planning to keep them until their death.)

When we ask about the breed, again, miniature dachshund…
Is it the sign that dachshund trend is finally over and too many dachshunds are on the market?

We often have future adopters who have particular breed in their mind.

But there are not many people who want to have dachshunds

(Of course, also a lot of people care only about dog personality, not breed.)

Are Dachshunds too popular now?
You’ve heard they bark a lot?
Or worried about genetic disease?

Not only dachshund, any breed has their own genetic disease.

Allergies or congenital disease are caused by reckless and easy breeding by people who seeks profits first.

Timid or barking behavior is due to lack of socialization by their owners. They did not know it and take puppies away from their parents and siblings too early.

That’s not the dog’s fault, of course.

No worries.
You all are so good under the stressful shelter life.
We will tell the people about your character to get the chance for each of you.

You can use pet sheets without being trained, share the toys and recover from rough skin perfectly!

You still trust humans,
You still show your love to us,
We truly hope that you all will find your lovely family soon.

Don’t forget about Koro♪

Adoption event Report ☆ at George Osaka on 02 Oct (Sun)

IMG_1418_1.jpg IMG_1372.jpg
IMG_1442_1.jpg IMG_1345_1.jpg
On 2nd of Oct (Sun), we had an adoption event at Gorge (JP only) OSAKA.
It was the 2nd time since the event in August to have a coffee table at the goods selling booth.
We hoped that people like regular visitors and customers of George can talk each other over coffee.

When ARK rescued Aika, she could not express her emotions. It was heartbreaking to see her having no reaction to things. It reminded us that she had difficult days before. But recently, she can express what she likes or dislikes, and can play with other dogs actively.
Even so, we were worried if she might hide herself in the corner at the event. The place and people visiting there are all new to her. But, she played with others or toys and slept like a frog as usual (see the picture above: lower, left). The staff members were all relieved.

Hana showed her belly to anybody and played with kids.
When she came to ARK, she had a bad skin trouble but it is resolved and her medicine is going to be stopped soon.
She is outgoing and does pee on a pet sheet perfectly. All she needs now is to find her new family.

Clara is 8 years old with some gray hair. But she shows her charm like a little girl and appeals her cuteness to the visitors.
Recently, she started urinating around the room.
She never did that before, and doesn’t do it in her kennel. It is obvious she has been stressed out by life in a shelter.
She does not bark or behave selfishly, so it didn’t seem like she had so much stress.
Sorry, we cannot find you your new home yet…

Ta kun is tiny and timid. He kept asking being held during the walk and the event.
Being held, even by strangers, makes him feel relaxed.
He already got tired and started nodding off around noon
His manner belt became a just-in-case thing, but he never needed it during the event☆

Maro was the oldest, but the most energetic one during the event.
She tried to chase the one she likes, but it was too much and she got in trouble. But she didn’t get back talk and never gave iup. Super positive girl, Maro.
She is friendly to all, curious about the things like a puppy, calm, with a balanced character and never barks. We recommend her to people who are wanting a dog for the first time. She will become a good family member without any trouble.

She was kept by a company, but it went bankrupt and nobody took her. Her life totally changed at 10 years old. But we do not want to give up finding her own family and her true happiness.

IMG_1394_1.jpg IMG_1389_2.jpg
Chibikoro (JP only)Mayuge (JP only)
Friendly Chibicoro ate a lot and got spoiled while purring and appealing her cuteness. She also took a nap. She spent time like she was in her cage.

In contrast, her timid brother Mayuge hid himself in a blanket.
One married couple came to see them and became their parents!
Their new daddy said..
“One is friendly and the other is timid? Great balance! If they are happy to be together, that would be wonderful.”
Their new mom first wanted to see other cats, but made up her mind.

We suggested to them to keep them in a cage as timid brother Mayuge might hide himself somewhere in the house and get lost.
They will remain at ARK while the new home is being prepared.

Mayuge, you were pouty like that all day, but they understood you!
You have to thank your new dady and mom and show yourself soon after you get to the new home. You are usually a cheerful and spoiled boy!
